Sheriff: Cattle Rustling Not All That Uncommon

WE DON'T HEAR ABOUT CATTLE RUSTLING MUCH THIS FAR NORTH, BUT THE ARREST EARLIER THIS WEEK IN JONES COUNTY SHOWS IT'S STILL AROUND. SHERIFF GREG GRAVER SAYS THEY SEE 2 OR 3 CASES A YEAR, AND THE THIEVES ARE EASIER TO CATCH NOW AS SECURITY SYSTEMS BECOME MORE COMMON.  HE NOTES SYSTEMS THAT ONCE COST TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS CAN NOW BE PICKED UP FOR A THOUSAND OR LESS, AND IN THIS CASE IT LED TO A QUICK IDENTIFICATION OF THE THIEF.  GRAVER SAYS BARRY BEIBER ORIGINALLY COOPERATED AND THEY WERE ABLE TO RECOVER THE 18 CATTLE HE STOLE FROM MYRON EHRESHMAN AT THE CASCADE SALE BARN.
