New Study Shows Drinking Down at UI

UNIVERSITY OF IOWA OFFICIALS REVEALING DATA THAT THEY SAY SHOWS PROBLEM DRINKING IS DECREASING AMOUNG STUDENTS SINCE THE 21 AND OVER ORDINANCE WAS PASSED. THE SURVEY OF 930 UI STUDENTS WAS TAKEN FOLLOWNG SPRING BREAK AND SHOWS THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO USED ALCOHOL IN THE PAST 30 DAYS DROPPED FROM OVER 85 PERCENT IN 2009 TO 75 PERCENT THIS YEAR. FREQUENCY WAS DOWN 21 PERCENT AND INTENSITY OF DRINKING DROPPING 20 PERCENT, AND UI VICE-PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT LIFE TOM ROCKLIN HIGHLIGHTING THE 10 PERCENT DECREASE IN NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES CAUSED BY DRINKING REPORTED BY SURVEY PARTICIPANTS.
