New Cell Tower May Be Going Up at Johnson Elementary in Cedar Rapids

THE CEDAR RAPIDS SCHOOL DISTRICT IS DECIDING WHETHER TO PUT A NEW CELL TOWER ON TOP OF JOHNSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. SCHOOL LEADERS SAY VERIZON CONTACTED THE DISTRICT ABOTU INSTALLING A NEW TOWER ON THE ROOF. BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS MANAGER ROB KLEINSMITH SAYS THERE ARE THREE OTHER CELL TOWERS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY - ONE AT BOTH WILSON AND ROOSEVELT SCHOOLS AND A BIGGER ONE AT KINGSTON STADIUM, AND THE TOTAL REVENUE FROM THE FOUR COMBINED WOULD BE 75,000 DOLLARS.
