CROSSING THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AT MUSCATINE IS GOING TO BE A SLOW PROCESS FOR THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS.

THE MUSCATINE JOURNAL REPORTS TRAFFIC ON THE BRIDGE THAT LINKS IOWA AND ILLINOIS WILL BE LIMITED TO ONE LANE UNTIL AT LEAST SEPTEMBER 25TH.

ONE-WAY TRAFFIC IS CONTROLLED BY TRAFFIC LIGHTS ON EACH SIDE OF THE BRIDGE, ALLOWING WORKERS TO RESTRUCTURE NINE EXPANSION JOINTS AND TWO BRIDGE ABUTMENTS.

STEVE COVEMAKER, OF GENERAL CONSTRUCTORS INCORPORATED IN BETTENDORF, SAYS IT NOW TAKES MOTORISTS ABOUT 3 MINUTES TO CROSS THE BRIDGE.

CREWS BEGAN WORKING ON THE 42-YEAR-OLD BRIDGE JULY 8TH.
